Sharing Days Introduction

Sharing Days Introduction

With effect from August 2017 I want to let folk know that I'm re-structuring the teaching part of my life. Initially there were plans to move forward with the Gordon Giltrap Guitar Academy. This has now changed.

I have decided to rename it and incorporate it within my current website. I feel comfortable with calling future events Gordon Giltrap Guitar Workshops And Sharing Days.

"Sharing Days" will be based at a venue close to where I live in Sutton Coldfield.

All future info will be posted here and on my public Face Book Page.

The weekends will be a bit more structured and aimed at the more experienced player, but for the time being I just love the idea of my "Sharing Days" making what I do that little bit more accessible AND affordable.

The plan for my "Sharing Days" is to accommodate between 10 and 12 players who want to spend the day sharing all aspects of my music, my technique, composition, my advice on guitars, open tunings, nail care ( yes even nail care) equipment, recording, in fact as much information as I'm able to impart on the day.

This will be aimed at mainly acoustic players but all players, electric or acoustic are welcome.

At times there may be others to assist in any way they can and special guests. I'm really looking forward to it as it should be a fun INFORMAL gathering of players who like me love this instrument of ours.

I shall do my very best to cover as much as I can within the given time. The most important thing is that it should be a relaxed and enjoyable day."

There is a fee of £100 for the day.

I hope you all approve of the restructuring of what is outlined here. Being a self-taught nonacademic musician I felt a degree of pretension using the term Academy and don't want to put players off by giving the impression of the whole approach being a tad highbrow. Those that know me will fully understand that this just isn't me!

My thanks go to all those who have "kept the faith" and have encouraged me to fully embrace the teaching side of what I do. They know who they are so I don't need to mention any names. Special thanks go RGT and Vintage guitars.
