AWARD FOR ROB ARMSTRONG
As another year starts, Gordon is delighted to share with you all some good news regarding an old friend.
Luthier Rob Armstrong's many years of dedicated work and experience hand building guitars has been recognised by Loughborough University, who on the 17th Dec 2007, awarded him an Honorary Doctorate of Technology.
Gordon has been working with Rob and the University for quite a few years on the development of the Polymer "Secret Valentine" guitar. You can read all about these projects here

GORDON'S MUSIC ON REGISTRY OF GUITAR TUTORS SYLLABUS
Gordon writes:
I received a package yesterday from RGT..... Registry of Guitar Tutors containing a 10 volume package for their brand new Acoustic Guitar syllabus. This is a major event in the world of guitar tuition because this syllabus is organised in partnership with the London College Of Music exams, and are approved by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority and are validated and certified by Thames Valley University.
The Giltrap connection with this wonderful new syllabus is that I was part of the consultancy team that helped to bring it about. My fellow consultants were John Renbourn, Clive Carroll and Stuart Ryan.
To add to this, 8 of my pieces are on the recommended playing list from grades 5 to grades 8, they are also recommending several of my pieces that Maestro Raymond Burley has arranged for classical guitar.
It is a great and also humbling feeling to know that my music will be part of many guitar students studies, and also quite strange when one thinks that I have had no formal training whatsoever and yet my music will make up part of this formal tuition.
Each book is superbly set out and has TAB as well as notation and a CD to assist with the students progress.
