Question for Gordon - video/film clips

Postby Roger » Fri Aug 17, 2007 9:53 pm

Hi Gordon

Just wondering if any video or film clips of you and the GG band from the 70's exist. If so, are there any plans to release them?

Thanks,

Roger

Great question Roger. I have very fond memories of Gordon with the band. In fact, the GG band was my first ever gig. It would be great to relive those moments.

Hobo

Thanks! I too think it would be great if something existed and could be released. I can remember a video of Gordon on "Tiswas" of all places, playing a Yamaha SG2000 brilliantly. It's an image that has stayed with me to this day and so I can't tell you how pleased I was to see Gordon playing an electric guitar again (Beech Village Hall last November). Long may it continue!!

You would have hoped that some of the "Whistle Test" footage may have survived. Let's hope that Gordon has some good news for us!

Hello all.

I would dearly love to put together a collection of clips from that early band stuff. TOTPs,OGWT, Sight and Sound etc. The main problem is locating the stuff (if it's still in the archives) and then the cost of licencing can be VERY costly. Somewhere out there is a recording of myself and James Taylor performing Steam Roller Blues, I would love to hear that, also the first time I met Brian May at a London radio station he jamed with me using my Baby Armstrong guitar on Roots! Wouldn't that be something to unearth eh!

I shall continue to investigate this footage. After all it is my legacy from a time long past.

Be Well all.

G.

JT is one of my all-time favourites and Steam Roller Blues is an absolute classic. I didn't realise you not just knew but played with another great! I'd love to see/hear that Gordon. :D

That's a classic (and typically self deprecating) story that Gordon shared on an Airwaves newsletter some time back but would bear telling again. Go on Gordon, spill the beans! :D
