Hello everyone!
My first post. I hope everyone is well. My name is Lauren and I am 39 from Philadelphia. I have a quick question that I am sure someone in here could help me with.
I have always loved Gordon's song "The Entertainer". It was my dad's album (my parents were HUGE music fans). Recently I rediscovered the song and happily play it constantly on my Ipod. However, my ears just cant pick out some of the lyrics. If someone could be so kind, can someone post the lyrics? Some of the lines are baffling my poor ears!
Thank you for having me, and I am sure I will learn a lot from everyone here. Gordon, I hope you are feeling much better!

Re: Question about The Entertainer
Hi Lauren,
I've listened to The Entertainer and my take is as follows. I can't get all of it and the bits I'm uncertain of are in square brackets - I suspect they are the bits you are struggling with but here goes, it may fill in some blanks for you.
Walk down to end of the promenade
Turn left to the fair about 200 yards
It’s cold for this time of the year
But you’re not as young as you used to be
Working men’s clubs from Perth to Millwall
Stag nights and drag nights the old music hall
The Palace, The Empire, yes you’ve done them all
In your 40-odd years on the stage
But now once again summer season is here
Candy floss, lemonade [sweet…?]
And the jokes that you crack are the same as last year
But this time there’s one or two more
The curtain goes up the footlights aflame
The gallery’s empty the [stalls?] are the same
The show must go on but it hurts your old pride
They just didn’t come ‘cause its raining outside
So entertainer, go on entertain
That showbiz tradition that runs in your veins
Belief in yourself is all that remains
And you’ll go on for ever after
