An old GG Band member?

Postby Trevor Raggatt » Fri Aug 02, 2013 10:27 am

Gordon, here's a bit of a random question... Do you have any recollections about a former GG Band member called Dave MacDonald? Who he was, what his background was, when he was in the band and what happened to him? Was he the player from the 60s Manchester band, The Scorpions (no, not THAT "The Scorpions") who was also known as Dave Robin?

It's just that for the last few years it's intrigued me.

Another part of my sad, geeky proclivities is based around the British custom build bass guitar brand, Wal Basses, that both JG and JGP played (I've got two which are my main basses). I'm sufficiently sad and tragic that I run this blog which details the brand's history: http://walbasshistory.blogspot.co.uk/

Anyway, my researches threw up this document a few years ago. It's their first ever customer list for their very early basses (JGP and JG had the first two) and of course they just happen to feature all across those 1970s ablums that I love so very much:

There are some really interesting names on the list including Dave MacDonald who is credited as being a member of the GG band andn bought bass no 1123. I always wondered about him...
