Hi G and All,

I'm looking to purchase a new acoustic amplifier and I'm going to be on a bit of a budget, I'm looking at the Ashdown acoustic amp has anyone had any experience with these?

Hello Dave,
In what context will you be using the amp? Solo performances? Personal monitor?
I've had a play with the 'big' Ashdown which sound spretty good despite it's rather optomistic power claims from the 10" speaker but I'm not sure what the smaller one with the 8" will be like. As you are looking for a totally transparent sound from an acoustic amp, don't dismiss the idea of buying a small powered folback cab and a decent pre-amp or even a Pocket Pod to feed the signal in. You'll be amazed at how good this can sound for around the same money as the small Ashdown with the bonus of extra flexability.
Good luck,
Russ

I will be using it for the solo performances and as a monitor on occasions. I'm using a small Laney at the moment with a direct line from my Schertler Bluestick but it doesnt do me any justice, and now you come to mention I have had some good sounds when going straight through my powered PA. maybe I'll invest in an LR baggs pre amp or something like that, the problem is the PA doesnt handle the base to well.

OR...... should I just invest in a AER or a Schertler David?....????
