sound hole pu's

Postby reini adelbert » Mon Oct 08, 2007 12:14 pm

Thanks for the great music!
I have seen that Gordon uses Fishman sound hole pu's and wonder if i might get
his guidance. Does he use the blender type (ie with mic)? Does he recommend
sound hole pu's over the under saddle transducer? Last not least - does he use
single coil or humbucker?
many thanks

Hi Reini.

Good to hear from you from way across the globe!

Yes, I use the Fishman Rare Earth blend Humbucking pickups. I love em. and for me they do the business!

Warm Regards.

Gordon.

Hi Gordon

Would you recommend soundhole PUs over 'built in' electronics like Fishman offer http://www.normanguitars.com/electronics.htm and/or would you ever get a decent guitar 'operated on' for this fitting?

Don't know whether to get my Norman B20 fitted out.......or will the sound get spoilt?

Thanks

Jon
Gordon signed my guitar at the Sloop Inn, IOW, 1969/70 whilst I was in the resident band "Witchazel"!.....and now at Cassington Village Hall October 2008.

..............forgot to ask...what about contact pick-ups like the Barcus Berry range.

Personally I have only had feedback problems from these and remember famous folk rock groups stuffing towels into their guitars to stop excessive vibration!?

Thanks

Jon
