Following last year's successful concert at The Heron, Gordon returned for two sell-out nights at this 81 seat theatre, the fabric of which is an old school dating back to 1847. The audiences of both seasoned fans and many who hadn't seen Gordon perform before ranged from locals to those coming from as far afield as Glasgow.
Both nights were an unqualified treat! Gordon had his Fret King electric, two JHS Signature guitars, the £5 car boot guitar and the Paul Brett Viator. Classics including Nursery Chimes, Under This Blue Sky, The Lord’s Seat, Here Comes the Sun, Mrs Singer’s Waltz, Anji, Dublin Day, Appalachian Dreaming and On Camber Sands were played as well as more recent compositions like Shining Morn, Fiona's Smile and Anyone Can Fly. Both nights finished with Heartsong and Lucifer’s Cage. The Verbzilla did it’s fabulous job and Gordon’s performances blew everyone away.
I had the benefit of being in the audience for the first night and running the light and sound from the gallery on the second night. That provided two different perspectives, both visually and audibly, of the show.
For the intervals Gordon brought with him some copies of the JHS promotional DVD as well as The Travellers, the new CD by Gordon and Paul Brett where the smaller Viator guitar is aired.
It was a tremendous weekend and a great time was had by all. I am very much looking forward to the next north west gig in Hoghton.
