Re: Gordon on the telly...

Nice one Trevor, especially Pebble Mill at One, takes me back. As an aside and this might be better aimed at you Gordon, were you and Martin Taylor both playing relatively inexpensive Yamaha guitars? maybe a promotion thing? or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Re: Guitar Star

just an update on the programme. Its moving along quite nicely now, Jazz players last week, acoustic this. A short interview with Ralph Mctell and I am pretty certain I spotted Tristan Seume in the audience. the mentors were Gabriel e Rodrigo who I have always thought were very innovative. All in al...

Re: Guitar Star

Brad you have made my day! thanks, so glad there are two of us who at least admit to watching the programme. Although at first somewhat critical I now actually quite like it, after all its about music and guitars. I agree about the heavy metal and shredding and congratulations for actually saying, &...

Re: Guitar Star

Thanks Gordon, I agree "artist" is much more appropriate. I had noticed the site has been a little quiet of late and have been looking for a suitable subject to post for a while and thought I had found something to provoke a little interest. Perhaps many members of this site do not have Sk...

Guitar Star

Anyone watch Guitar Star on Sky Arts last night?
I did not understand how they could put all styles together as if they were all the same and judge the players.
Also found it a made me cringe a bit, so much so I can only stand 10 minutes at a time (recorded it)
Anymore thoughts?

Re: Learning scales

Hi Gordon Thank you for your very interesting reply. Nice anecdote regarding Raymond Burley I certainly feel better about not worrying about scales or modes which I think I read somewhere that a lot of guitarists don't bother with, so much so that I have forgotten what they are anyway. Also thank yo...

Learning scales

Hi Gordon, Just read your twitter post that said "After playing the guitar for nearly 55 years I have decided to start learning scales" As someone who is struggling to get past the beginner stage and who has always been unsure of the benefit of scales to the bedroom guitarist, thinking the...

Incidentally, Brook guitars website is one of the best guitar makers sites I have seen. Particularly the "News" page. Look and drool!
Kind regards

Bramhall Hall

Hi Gordon Noticed there was no Bramhall Hall concert this year, as I believe it was one of Hillary`s and your favourite venues as well as popular with the fans (and one I wanted to attend on the strength of this) I just wondered why it wasn't to be this year?. Hoping to make Stafford but it is by kn...

Re: Harp Guitar amplification

Rob Sorry for turning your Harp Guitar thread into a Chapman Stick thread Bob Thanks for your comments which prompted further research on my part and has revealed quite an intriguing instrument. I must admit to being embarrassed by my lack of musical knowledge. I guess we live and learn. Gordon I ha...
