Re: Ooooooouch!

Nice! :D No short cuts I afraid. It is a little easier on big stretches if you raise the headstock a few inches. This makes it a little more natural for the arm/hand (works when beginning barre chords too) but just the willingness to keep on practicing is the only way to get it :D Bugger... right t...

Ooooooouch!

This is worse that my old piano stretches by a MILE! Ouch! Any real tips or is it just keep going till the muscles and tendons (and quite possibly bone) accept the task at hand? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-a-N0UoK8U&hd=1 Edit - I'm surprised at how well the 'super glue' trick works for me.....

Re: Help on choosing my next acoustic

Matt, I had the left-handed version. Roger PS Going back to JHS Vintage, they were great when I had a problem with the guitar set-up - put things right promptly and FOC. Great customer service! You're not helping   Well you are and you aren't  OK, this is my take on it. Russ is ...

Re: Help on choosing my next acoustic

Thanks for the help Russ... :D and as regards my quest it's starting to get a Monty Python vibe...  I'm desperate to play a GG Dulux... it really does look like gambling on a mail order... :? Roger I have been flitting back and forth from the JHS website back to here and then to 'lesser...

Re: Introductory Hello

trying to work out how he managed to do those seemingly impossible things. That's because there's nothing 'seemingly ' about it ... voodoo magic ... I've decided  Welcome from one newbie to another... :) pull up a chair and list your instruments of choice .. alternatively do as Gordon rath...

Re: Help on choosing my next acoustic

On the contrary Gordon I was quite hoping you'd honour me with your honest opinion on your dulux signature model. Not only do you play the guitar in question on a regular basis you also teach guitar so your thoughts on the matter would be invaluable to me! Since I'm seemingly unable to find a local ...

Re: New on the GG forum and amazed...

Well that was a good enough excuse to take a digital subscription to Acoustic  I've had a quick look... But thanks to a cold and several 'medicinal' measures of whisky I can't really decide if I should take a stab at reading tab again. My piano lessons are faaaaaar behind me so I won't be a...

Re: New on the GG forum and amazed...

Ah Yamato! I think this badge was manufactured by Tombo which made a lot of different types of guitars back in the 70s (before the lawsuits). I have still got an Angellica LP Recording copy (another Tombo badge) which I just couldn’t get rid of (most Angellicas were acoustic but a few Electrics got...

Re: Help on choosing my next acoustic

Scott - Thanks for the thoughts I've also heard excellent things about the Mahogany model which can be had for such reasonable money I'm almost tempted to buy one just because it would be nice owning an all mahogany guitar with that delectable warm sound :D I'm actually quite jealous  As re...

Help on choosing my next acoustic

I wondered if I could probe folk for some thoughts that might help me make my mind up... I've long being considering adding another guitar to our collection. Amy (my boss) already has a wonderful Ayer's guitar which she's had for many years and we bought extremely cheaply due to some repaired minor ...

Re: New on the GG forum and amazed...

Just the warm welcome was more than enough thank you Roger :)

I'd love to see the Yamato... Strange that in all these years you're the first person I've ever met to have owned such a wonderfully terrible yet rare guitar... :D
