Tristan Seume
Finally got to see Tristan last Friday. Gordon is so right to enthuse over this young player, he really does carry the flag for english acoustic guitar playing. The Gordon influences are very obvious, but not overwelming and perhaps are more apparent in his composition than his playing. Also on the ...

Boss Pedals
Well Colin.....for my money I'd go for the following; RC2 Loop Station - for obvious reasons. OS2 Overdrive - a nice OD/Distortion pedal. DD6 Delay - Works well with the Loop Station.....if a little short. GE7 Equalizer - for all those times you can't get a decent sound out of the 'house' PA! CE5 Ch...

Hi Bob, It's the single coil version - which is fine as I've got access to plenty of Humbuckers! In fact it makes a nice partner to my Tele. Sound wise, it works really well. It never fails to amaze me how wrong Fender got their pick-up configuration with the Strat - it doesn't make for a good tone ...

Got a new toy!
Hey... I've got a new toy! It's really sweet looking, it's a sort of honey sunburst and sounds amazing. It's a LAG Jet.....a lovely little six string electric (french designed) which looks an sounds like it should be in the hands of Albert Lee....not me!
Highly recommended!

Hi Roger - cor, what a question! Firstly, my opinions on Martins and Taylors are firmly placed at the lower end of their respective ranges. I just fail to understand how they can qualify asking seven or eight hundred quid for something that any other far eastern factory can churn out for less than t...

Ok , You're all a bit too smart! It's a Shergold Numeteor maple/sycamore neck fitted to a swamp ash strat body. pick-ups are a couple of alnicos and a coil tapped humbucker. Owing to the short scale length the neck is set quite deep into the body. The pick-up configuration is interesting, as I've co...

Ok Steve, you're close, but no cigar......you need to think more English than that I'm afraid! As for yours.........? Well, if I was buying a guitar that was that shape (and not a vintage Ibanez) I reckon it would have to be either a Gordon Smith Graduate or GS2. Mind you, I'm a bit odd like that! R...

Ummm...I think it looks like an overweight Peavey Wolfgang! $1400 in the States will mean almost £1400 (before discounts) over here if Gibson and Fender prices are any thing to go by. For that kind of money you can buy a decent, proper and possibly hand made, acoustic or a good mass produced one and...

Surprised no one has mentioned the Alesis X Guitar! 80 programs, full on-board editing, two single coils and a humbucker. Hunt around and you can still find one for a hundred quid new. Even if you spent another £100 on a set up and fret dress, this would still have to be the best value 'modeling' gu...

I think the the first thing you have to ask yourself is why a 'soundhole' pick-up? As Gordon quite rightly said, an Artec blend system is superb, as is a SD Woody, both of which are available for much less than a hundred pounds. Another idea is to block off the soundhole completely and stick a twent...
