Re: Maple Fretboard Care

Hi Roger/Em Sounds like you’ve now got a very nice guitar for a very good price. Not thought about varnishing the maple neck yet? Maple are usually varnished so lemon oil will be OK, but only if it is varnished. If not then follow what Russ said and use beeswax or a fretboard spray wax. Good to hear...

Re: Shipton Bellinger Concert

It was a really good night, well enjoyed by all who were there. Gordon's playing was spot on and he has a new energy that is great to see. Trying to meet up at a concert sounds like a good plan Roger, it will be good to catch up. Will have to check the concerts and find a nice midway that we can all...

Shipton Bellinger Concert

What a great concert and good to see Gordon and Hilary looking so well. We arrived early as usual and as we parked I received a phone call from Gordon asking us when we would be arriving at the venue. ‘About 2 minutes! :D ’ This was a special gig for me as I got to pick up my part of Giltrap history...

Re: BERT WEEDON RIP.

Hi Gordon Very sad to see the passing of the great Bert Weedon. As you know, I was a great fan of Bert. Without Bert’s ‘Play in a Day’ and ‘Play Every Day’ books we may not have seen many of our most famous guitarists. He made learning the guitar a pleasure and made everything so easy to follow. I p...

Re: What steel string guitars to consider?

Hi Aviator, Brilliant advice from Gordon and our forum members. So here are my thoughts. You say you have had Ovation before, so why not get the low end Ovation Applause for around £200 (try Reidy's) and then have one built by Rob Armstrong or Fylde, as Gordon suggests, to your specs. The extra time...

Re: Jim Marshall

Very sad news and a great loss to the world of music. Jim Marshall along with Leo Fender, Les Paul and Bob Moog, changed the face of music over the decades with amazing innovation, commitment and a true love for music. Jim gave the power to guitarists to expand beyond their wildest dreams and there ...

Yep, the top of the neck near you looking down to the body. Think of the allen key as a screwdriver and turn it a little at a time.

Re: Buzz from Strings on GG Guitar

Hi HawkofMay I think Gordon's advice is spot on. With new guitars they often take a little tweaking over the first few weeks and especially when you change strings for the first time. A friend of mine had major problems on a new Telecaster. Eventually he brought it along and we fixed it in about 25 ...

Re: A loss of a much loved pet.

Sorry to read about your loss Sue and Mike. Chloe was part of the family and although having to make such a decision is always hard I’m sure it was kinder for Chloe not to suffer. Time is a great healer so remember the fun times you had.
Thinking of you both

Re: Crafter Acoustic Problem

Hi Roger It sounds like your guitar has a slightly over convex backbow that is causing the strings to buzz or choke. If it was done by a shop rather than a guitar repairer/luthier they may not have got it quite right. A lot of shops do it but you can’t beat a proper guitar repairer. As you have move...

Re: GG SIGNATURE GUITAR MIA AWARD WINNER

Congratulations to Gordon and Rob! Having been lucky enough to play one I can only say they made the right choice. A lovely acoustic at a decent price. I'm sure it will go on from strength to strength as time goes on. JHS must be very proud of this great instrument and very happy that they managed t...
