"Three Parts Guitar" - Tewkesbury

What an evening! Superb playing from all three maestros and John Etheridges' input - both with and without Ray Burley - lifted some of the classic Gordon pieces to new heights. More to follow by way of a short(ish) review and, hopefully, some photos. If you're within striking distance of either Lich...

That's a very valid point Andrew. I can image Gordonn having trouble trying to use this with his AKG C414 - he'd need a vice-like grip to counteract the torque! At the show they were demoing it with an Audio-Technica small-diaphram condenser (sdc) mic and the guitar didn't seem difficult to handle -...

A very interesting product...

Just back from the PLASA (Professional Light and Sound Association) exhibition where, as usual, I saw lots of live-sound gear that I can't possibly afford (sob, sob)! However, one of the good things I came across is a gizmo for attaching a microphone to a guitar for live sound (especially) or record...

Almost a perfect day...

... creosoting my shed, enjoying the warm early Autumn sun all day and listening to my favourite Gordon albums on my MP3 player...

Why almost perfect? Well, I did have to cresote the shed!

Superb TV programme about Les Paul

As Gordon has mentioned in a reply in another thread, there was a brilliant programme about Les Paul - 'Les Paul; Chasing Sound' - on BBC4 last night. If you missed it - which I very nearly did - it's on BBC iPlayer. A truly wonderful programme about the man and his inventions and to hear some of hi...

New Pedalboard

What an anorak I am...! Just spent a happy 5 minutes poring over the pictures of the new pedalboard to see the layout and how it's all interlinked. I love the construction and the different levels and angles - tasty! BUT... horror of horrors, wearing my PhD hat in sound-engineering geekdom I noticed...

Revenge is a dish best served cold

When guitar player Dave Carroll travelled to Nebraska for a tour with his band Sons of Maxwell, he witnessed his Taylor guitar being thrown by United Airlines baggage handlers in Chicago. The guitar was severely damaged and after a lot of communication he was told that United wouldn’t compensate him...
