It's just a trick I picked up somewhere Andrew! LOL. I've had problems trying to buy that DVD, well, I've been trying to buy the 5 Disc version. I've seen it on Amazon for a huge inflated ridiculous price that I'm just not prepared to pay (I hate feeling ripped off!) apparently supplies have been hi...

Appalachian dreaming on TV last night!

It was Great to hear This song on 'Monty Halls Great Escape' (BBC2 9:00 - 10:00 ) last night. It's a terrific track and one I listen to regularly. It was an appropriate choice, it always puts me in mind of the great out doors and always takes me back to numerous visits to the lake district during my...

I'm not sure this counts, as it was a 50th Birthday gift from my brother. It's a sunburst Fender USA Deluxe Strat. Absolutely beautiful guitar. I've hardly put it down since and yes you can play some of Gordon's tunes on it! it has an S1 switch which sort of mellows it out a bit, great for some clea...

Metronome Tips?

I've just bought a Metronome to help improve my timing and Rhythm. Trouble is I'm not that clear as how to use it properly, and the instruction sheet is a little vague to say the least. Does anyone have any tips and good practice routines I could use with it, plus, How do I set it correctly etc? and...

PS. In case anyone was wondering, Faggots are a local delicacy in St Helens, Large meatballs (usually made from minced Lamb I think)then smothered in mushy peas! Not a favourite dish of mine but very popular in Lancashire,... apparently!...... I obviously need to get out more!

ST Helens Gig

Hi Gordon, I trust you and the family had a good Christmas. I see your going to play St Helens on the 28th (they like mushy peas over Faggots up there you know? Grin) I told 'Our' Liam' about it and so he's thinking of going to see you play, as it's near by (We have a Sister who lives in St Helens a...

Tape/Flat/Ground wound Strings

Hi Gordon Have you ever tried Tape/Flat or Ground-wound strings, I know they are usually associated with 'Jazz' guitars but I've spotted a few that now seem to cater for most other styles, I was thinking of trying them out to help reduce that annoying unwanted 'note' I get when I accidentally just t...

Acoustic Mag and 'Under This Blue Sky'

Hi Gordon It's Great to see 'Under This Blue Sky' featured in this months 'Acoustic' magazine ! I have often said and you are probably bored of me saying this now, but I'll never be able to stop repeating it - " It is one of the most beautiful passages of music ever written for the guitar"...
