thanks Russ I'll be playing all sorts of rock from classic to metal, so the Ibanez is ok for any of that. Rock has always been my favourite genre [although I have eclectic tastes] but I've never really attempted playing much of it because it's just not right for an acoustic, which has always been my...

I tried a few guitars at the local shop, including the Gibson SG and many others. Didn't get to try a Cort X2. But I've bought the Ibanez SA260FM plus a Fender 15R amp, both of which were exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for all the advice everybody. Now I've got to learn how to play an electr...

Hi Peter The JS100 goes secondhand for around the £300 mark so its within your budget. It sounds like you want a wide neck rather than a deep neck, so, if you don't mind the style have a good look at an SG copy. And on the amp front for practice the Roland MicroCube has everything you are likely to...

Hi Peter I have to say that Ibanez are great guitars. The necks vary but I have never played a bad one. If you do go for secondhand check out the JS100 Joe Satriani signature. My Ibanez is the JS1000 and it plays like a dream, although it is a thin neck. You could also check out some of the Epiphon...

Peter, I have a Cort X2 which sells for less than £200 and I'm pleased with it, but like the Ibanez the neck is ideal for my small hands and short fingers, so it may not suit you! Remember that Gordon has played a Farida Telecaster copy in the recent past on Dodos Dream and these sell for less than...

Suggestions for electric guitar
Hello folks The wife has said I can have about £250 to spend on a cheapish electric guitar for my birthday. Being an acoustic man, I've never owned an electric, but I am a rocker at heart and want an electric now. As I have large hands, a narrow neck is not on. I love the look of the Ibanez SA260FM....

Now the dust has settled, I can report that this guitar pack is a great bargain for the beginner and even intermediate! It has a good tone, setup, finish, tuners and everything is good. The amp is basic but effective. It was a great buy... it had the desired effect and my daughter can't stop playing...

Peter,,to be honest..(I know it's a Christmas gift etc so you've been trying to get one on the sneak I suppose)..but you can't beat going down to your local Guitar store and let her try some out first, what may suit one person may not suit another and she could pick one up that 'Just' feels right f...

Tedious logging in
Don't know about anyone else, but each time I visit this site I have to login afresh each time. It's very tedious. Can't the board be set such that we don't have to do that?
