Station Theatre, Station Road, Hayling Island PO11 0EH
phone: 02392 466 363
When the old South Hayling Goods Shed came up for disposal in December 1992, Hayling Island Amateur Dramatic Society (HIADS) put in a bid to Havant Borough Council, who offered the building and the site at a peppercorn rent, to convert it to a 144 seat theatre.
The costs for such a conversion were estimated to be between £160,000 and £200,000. The funds in HIADS coffers were about £500! With the backing of the council, a massive fund raising effort was started involving an incredible effort by the HIADS members with every concievable money making scheme pushed forward with full gusto. Along with money making schemes and applications for grants, the members put in an estimated 30,000 hours of effort on the building.
The Station Theatre owes its continued success to the generosity and solid support of the people of Hayling Island and surrounding area, the dedication of HIADS members, and the encouragement of Havant Borough Council and Hampshire County Council.
The easiest way to obtain tickets (other than visiting the theatre box office in person) is to phone up the box office between 10am and noon, and reserve your seats.
You can either pay for the tickets in person, or post your payment to us. Once payment is received we can either hold the tickets for collection or send them to you (if you send a stamped self addressed envelope).
Please note: Tickets booked over the telephone are only reserved for 7 days. If we do not receive payment in 7 days, or before 7:00pm on the day of the performance, then we reserve the right to offer those tickets for re-sale.
Please check availability of tickets and confirm date / start times with the organiser before setting out, as sometimes changes are unavoidable - thank you.
