Winter Warmers Society Charity Concert
St Georges Centre
Pembroke Gate, Maritime Way Chatham ME4 4UH
phone: John Griffin....01634 409991
Gordon supports the Winter Warmers Society Charity in Kent, and plays an annual concert to raise funds. Previous concerts have been held on the paddle steamer Kingswear Castle, sailing from Chatham Dockyard.
The format this year will be a little different, as the venue will be the beautiful building of St George's Centre, Pembroke Gate, Maritime Way, Chatham. The foundation stone of this building was laid on 27 April 1905 and on completion, was dedicated by the Lord Bishop of Rochester, as St George's Church on 19 December 1906.
For many years it served the needs of the Royal Navy Pembroke Barracks. With the Navy's departure in 1984, this fine building changed its name to St George's Centre and opened its doors, inviting all to see its many memorials bearing witness to the heroic deeds of many gallant men and ships.
There are beautiful stained glass widows, many unveiled by HRH Princess Elizabeth in 1950 and plaques commemorating local naval history throughout the century.
Please arrive between 7.30 and 7.45pm to allow time to get refreshments.
Private car park.
Accessible and user-friendly for people with disabilities.
Please check availability of tickets and confirm date / start times with the organiser before setting out, as sometimes changes are unavoidable - thank you.
