New to the forum
Hi, I'm new to the forum.
I have played acoustic guitar since I was 12 later moving into bands ranging from Classic Rock and folk over the years.
I play both acoustic and electric. 12 string being one of my favourites.
The last band split after 8 years of fun. I prefer to play at home, these days, and spend some of my spare time restoring instruments I've saved from the scrap bin! Mostly banjo's and ukulele banjo's (why do people throw them away???).
My influences started with Donovan, The Beatles (George Harrison especially), Brian May (I made a replica of his home-made guitar back in the 1990's) and other 60's/70's rock/folk bands.
Looks like a great forum. Thanks for allowing me in!
Regards,
Mark.

Hi Mark,
Welcome to the forum! I see you live in Leicestershire - I used to live in Kegworth on the north western tip of the county many years ago.
At the moment the forum is a little quieter than usual, due in part to Gordon needing to rest and focus on his treatment and recovery.
That said there is lots of useful information within the forum's discussion topics and any questions usually elicit a good response.
I love your Magical Mystery Tour Strat and the "moon and stars" acoustic in your profile photo!
All The Best,
Roger

......I have read about Gordon's health issues. Very sorry to learn of this and hope his treatment and recovery are going well.

Hi Mark!
Welcome to the forum!
I hope you have a good time here!
I noticed from your music influences that you stated The Beatles.... I was hearing this morning their record producer had passed away. Oh well.
Anyway, like I said have a great time here!
Take care,
Tom

Hi Gordon,
Thank you very much for your kind comments.
The 2016 calendar...well actually that isn't anything I have created. It's actually a service provided by the website that I store some pictures on!
Certainly an interesting option!
Please see, below, some more pictures of the Moon guitar.
It's loosely based on Donovan's "Blue Moon" guitar made by the late Tony Zemaitis.
Wishing all the very best with your health and recovery,
Mark.

Hi Tom,
Thank you for the welcome to the forum.
Yes, it was very sad to see that the great George Martin had passed away.
As George Harrison once said....All Things Must Pass......

Many thanks Roger. It seems a very warm and friendly place.
Re: New to the forum
Hi Mark and let me add my welcome too. That's a lovely looking instrument and I'll bet it sounds good too. Have you made any recordings you would like to share?
Re: New to the forum
Hi AndrewD,
I haven't made any recordings as such but I did do this short private video to show a friend how to play one of Donovan's songs called "Voyage Into The Golden Screen". I didn't tune the guitar down like the original song but just tried to show the picking style and chord shapes.
I've made the video public so anyone interested can view it and listen:
