Gypsy Jazz

Fab concert at the Queen Elizabeth Hall last night from Eduardo Niebla's trio (Carl Herring on second guitar; Dharmesh Parmar on Indian tabla). Eduardo's influences range far and wide, from flamenco and jazz through to Indian musical traditions, and it's easy to be reminded at times of Django, McLaughlin (with Shakti) and the two Pacos. A taster of the style can be heard if you watch the video 'Rosie' (a performance from Jan 2011 on the BBC's Newsnight Review programme) at:

PS. Hello Gordon, hope all's well. If you'd like to catch oud player Attab Haddad in concert he'll be at the Purcell Room on the South Bank (with his quintet) in May (8th). I hope to be at your Sheffield gig later that month!
