Jake Shimabukuro
At the weekend I had the opportunity to see Jake Shimabukuro the "ukulele master" in concert with the Winston Salem Symphony Orchestra. I can't remember how I first stumbled across Jake's music as I would not usually seek out ukulele music, but what he can do with his four string instrumen...

Re: Grantham - 12/10/2012
Hi Gordon, Both my father (John) and brother (Graem) sent me e-mails yesterday with glowing reports of Friday night's concert, along with a couple of photos. They had a great time and I understand they even managed to speak to you briefly after the show. Keith has covered the concert well and shares...

Deluxe GG JHS signature guitar
Hi Gordon, Is was great to see the prototype of the new deluxe GG JHS signature guitar in your October news update. I see that it is going to be launched at the NAMM show in the USA next year. Is that simply the launch venue or does that mean they have plans to sell it in the US? I have contacted JH...

Re: Giltrap and Wakeman Video
Thanks for posting the video Sue, I was hoping there might be a YouTube excerpt, but I didn't think we would see something so soon! It's a great trailer and gives some real insight into what Ravens and Lullabies will be like. I will forward the link to my family in the UK who are attending on my beh...

Re: HUNTINGDON HALL TONIGHT.Wakeman & Giltrap.
Hi Gordon, In response to my "marketing" e-mail to my family both my brother and father (Graem & John, who you met very briefly in Sheffield) will be attending your Grantham Ravens & Lullabies concert! My father already has the tickets and Graem, who flies home from vacation the da...

Re: HUNTINGDON HALL TONIGHT.Wakeman & Giltrap.
Hi Gordon, I have just noticed that the next three Giltrap & Wakeman concerts are at Weston-Super-Mare and Trowbridge (I lived in and around Bristol and Bath before moving to the US) and then you are performing in Grantham where my parents now live (and my brother recently moved from London to L...

Re: HUNTINGDON HALL TONIGHT.Wakeman & Giltrap.
Hi Gordon, I have been away for a couple of days (having left my lap top and iPad in my garage when packing the car......) and therefore missed the opportunity to wish you luck. It sounds like a it was a great concert, which is no surprise considering the two musicians involved. Well done. I need to...

Re: straten club 40 guitar
Not sure of the value - although there has been one for sale on eBay recently. Here is a potted history (if you haven't seen it already) that shows where the Straten Club 40 came from: http://www.paulvernonchester.com/StratenGuitars.htm It looks like they may only have been made for a relatively sho...

Re: A BEAUTIFUL GUITAR DESTROYED BY UPS.
Today I noticed that the current UPS TV commercial running in the USA uses, of all things, the Martin Guitar Company as its subject.
Pretty ironic under the circumstances.......

Re: Gordon Giltrap - Guitar Maestro DVD
I have received the DVD and I must say it is excellent! The visual and audio quality are very good and the performances are outstanding. The interviews and discussion around the songs and guitars are really interesting. The option to play the songs with or without the interviews and the additional t...

I can certainly imagine how gutted you must feel. Unfortunately even when the insurance process is completed it often cannot possibly compensate for the uniqueness of what has been lost. It has been my expereince in the past, whether regarding personal or business issues, that global courier compani...

Re: Gordon on BBC Radio 6 Music
The live music hour included an extract from Gordon's concert at the Paris Theatre in 1977. It included Catwalk Blues, Visionary Suite (with Lucifer's Cage) and Guitar Concerto. Excellent performances - there just wasn't enough of it!

Re: Gordon on BBC Radio 6 Music
Hi Sue,
You are right, in my experience iPlayer doesn't work over here or rather infringes distribution/peformance agreements, which is why I was keen to test the live radio link. So, all being well, I will certainly be listening live.
Thanks,
Roger

Re: Gordon on BBC Radio 6 Music
That is good news. I have just followed the link in your message to make sure I can listen to BBC Radio 6 Music live over here and everything seems to work, so all being well I will be listening to it live at a rather more convenient time of 10.00 p.m.
Thanks for letting us know.
